What it's like to play

Tower Platformer is a small, complete platform game built around a cylindrical tower. The camera follows a climber who runs around the outside of the structure, and the level wraps at the edges, so running off one side brings you back on the other. The whole demo tower is one tall, hand-built level rather than a set of short stages.

You start at the bottom and climb toward the top, collecting coins and avoiding four monster types: a vertical block, a fast fly, a slime and a slow snail. Ladders connect the floors, and the controls are simple: left and right to run, up and down to climb, space to jump. Missing a platform drops you, but the tower's wrap-around layout keeps the fall from feeling final. Contact with a monster triggers a short hurt animation rather than an instant death.

The game renders at 720×540 and runs its logic at a fixed 60 frames per second. The demo level is 20 columns wide and 139 rows tall, with 140 coins placed along the route; each coin adds 50 points. Gravity is exaggerated at 39.2 units, the jump impulse is 15 times the frame rate, and you may still jump for one fifth of a second after walking off a ledge.

Verdict: It is a compact, old-school climb with a clever twist and no filler. The cost is content: one level, no sound, no pause key, and a score display that only counts coins. Play it for ten minutes as a palate cleanser, not as a campaign.
